Delete your account

com.cinefliq.app. It explains how to delete your account and everything attached
to it, what goes, what stays and why, and how long it takes. It works whether or not you
still have the app installed.
The short version. If you still have the app, open Settings, then Delete your account. It happens immediately and nobody has to approve it. If you have already uninstalled it, email hello@cinefliq.com from the address you signed in with and we will do it for you.
If you still have the app
This is the fastest route and it needs nothing from us.
- Open Cinefliq and go to Settings.
- Choose Delete your account.
- Type the word DELETE when asked. That step exists so it cannot happen by accident.
It takes effect straight away. There is no email to send us, no waiting and no explanation required.
If you no longer have the app
Email hello@cinefliq.com from the address you signed in with, and say that you want your account deleted. That is the whole request. You do not need to give a reason and we will not ask for one.
If you signed in with Google or Apple, use that same address. If you used Sign in with Apple and chose Hide My Email, write from the relay address Apple gave you; it reaches us and it is the address on your account.
If you cannot send email from that address any more, write to us anyway and tell us your handle. We will ask you something only the account holder would know before we delete anything, because a request we cannot check is a way for somebody else to delete your account.
What is deleted
Everything below goes, and it cannot be undone.
- Your account, and the Google or Apple connection if you used one.
- Every signed in session, on every device.
- Every swipe and every rating you have ever made.
- Your profile, your handle, your display name, your bio and your picture.
- Who you follow and who follows you.
- Your notifications.
- Your votes in any Decide together room.
- Any list you own, including titles other members added to it.
A list you own goes with your account, so if a shared list matters to somebody else, hand it to them before you delete.
What is not deleted, and why
- Lists you joined but do not own. They belong to whoever made them and they stay. Titles you added to one remain on it and are no longer attached to you.
- Reports you made about other people. If you reported somebody, the report stays so it can still be acted on. A report nobody can trace is a report nobody can act on. It keeps only what the report needs and carries nothing else from your account.
- Routine database backups. Your data is removed from the live database immediately, but copies can survive in backups for a short time while those roll over. They are never read except to recover the whole database from a failure, and they are gone within thirty days.
How long it takes
- From inside the app: immediately.
- By email: we act within seven days and usually the same day. We will write back to confirm when it is done.
- Backups: within thirty days, as above.
